In 2013 when I was 20 years of age, I went for a Pap test and the results came back as CIN 1. I had to go back to the doctor for another Pap test and this time the results came back as CIN 2. So, off to the gynaecologist I went for a biopsy. The biopsy came back as CIN 3 and a week later I had to get the LLETZ procedure … the results came back as cancerous! Though they had cut it all out during the procedure.

I was very lucky because this was a very fast growing cancer!

I have a tattoo on my ribs to symbolise what I have gone through, it says “acceptance is the key to be truly free”.

Five years later and I’m still cancer-free. I have a beautiful two and a half-year-old son, an amazing partner, and an extended family who are right by my side every step of the way, as they have been from day one.

I get a Pap test every year to be safe, and to clear my mind. There is nothing better than a doctor calling you back saying everything has come back good. 🙂

My tips for Australian women about cervical health:

Get a regular Pap test, don’t be embarrassed! You could save your own life in 2 minutes.
